I know what you're asking...

Who's Annie and what’s up with Joyride?

These questions remind me of the film "Austin Powers."  In one of the most splendidly absurd movie scenes of all times, Dr. Evil and his son Scott attend group therapy. When asked to introduce himself, Dr. Evil says, "The details of my life are quite inconsequential. Oh very well, where do I begin?"  Well, exactly.

I grew up in the Midwest, attended college and law school in the East, and, along with my husband, practice law in a small city. I've been married to the same man and lived in the same house for decades. I have two adult sons, two dogs (who double as  my beautiful blog models), and three sisters. I love a good glass of wine, have been known to play a neighborhood game of four-square in high heels, and spend a blissfully inordinate amount of time in my pajamas.

After raising sons and owning a law practice, I'm now finding time to reflect and write. Naturally, I share many of my mid-life experiences, both the joyful and the sorrowful.  In fact, I started out with the thought of tackling the experiences of people whose kids are grown but who aren't yet fully ready to embrace AARP. There is no precise term for this phase of life. I thought I might find one.

But after writing for a few months, I realized that my blogs weren't limited to the baby boomer years. (Plus, my husband, Duncan, said the whole process risked tipping into the narrative of a typical Viagra™ commercial!)

What I do hope to do with this blog is to stir awareness of living life to its fullest, every day, even (especially!) in the small and ordinary things in life.  For me, it's finding and appreciating the extraordinary in the ordinary that makes life wonderful.  Embracing life as a joyride.

Ultimately, that's what this blog is all about.

Welcome.  I'm thrilled you're here.  Let the ride begin.
