DIY PROJECTS GONE AWRY

Some DIY projects should be left to the professionals.

I know firsthand, because today I thought it would be a good idea to groom one of my lovely dog models, and here's what happened:

Hopefully, my neighbors will think it had something to do with Halloween. But that can only last so long.  At some point, I'll have to fess up.

I should have known better, because when I was about five, I cut my favorite doll's hair, and got strikingly similar results:

Of course, I tried to blame it on my sister, who, unbeknownst to me, had been downstairs with my mom the whole time.  Note to self: before throwing a sibling under the bus, know where he or she is, geographically.

I thought it might be fun to see whether other people had faced similar DIY disasters. I googled "DIY gone wrong," and immediately identified some common themes.

The first was alcohol. No surprise there. This project was particularly noteworthy, however:

Then there was the inevitable duct tape solution.  Ahhh, duct tape.  The elixir for everything that ails us.  You have to give particular, credit, however, to these "creative" souls:

Before you start your next DIY, please consider whether your ordinary solution could have extraordinarily bizarre results.  If so, please pick up the phone and call in back-up. It's never too late.
